The good witch of the north, Glinda is a fictional character in the famed L. Frank Baum "OZ" novels. We first meet the lovable Glinda in the 1900 children's classic "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." Glinda the Good Witch of the North is notably the most powerful sorceress in the Land of Oz. She is ruler of Quadling Country, which is located south of the Emerald City. Additionally, she is the protector of Princess Ozma.
In 1978 an adaptation of the original "The Wizard of Oz" film was released under the title "The Wiz." This rendition by far has to be one of my all time favorite films. It starred Diana Ross (Dorothy), Michael Jackson (Scarecrow), Nipsey Russell (Tinman), Ted Ross (Lion, Richard Pryor (The Wiz) and in the role of Glinda the Good Witch of the North was played by the iconic Ms. Lena Horne.
Glinda the Good : Hello, Dorothy.
Dorothy : Please, is there a way for me to get back home?
Glinda the Good : Well, Dorothy, you were wise and good enough to help your friends to come here and find what was inside them all the time. That's true for you, also.
Dorothy : Home? Inside of me? I don't understand.
Glinda the Good : Home is a place we all must find, child. It's not just a place where you eat or sleep. Home is knowing. Knowing your mind, knowing your heart, knowing your courage. If we know ourselves, we're always home, anywhere.
