In the television series FAME, Lydia Grant (played by actress, dancer, choreographer, director, producer, and more Debbie Allen) taught dance at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts...which by the way is a REAL school. Miss Grant was tough, no-nonsense and demanded lots of sweat from her best students. Today's cosplay is dedicated to Ms. Allen and her role in this series.

Fame is a 1980 American teen musical film directed by Alan Parker. Set in New York City, it chronicles the lives and hardships of students attending the High School of Performing Arts (known today as Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School), from their auditions to their freshman, sophomore, junior and senior years.
